Purpose
To prevent injury, ill health and pollution in our operations, and to make safety the first consideration in every job.
Scope
All work by our staff and subcontractors: on board vessels, at anchorages, jetties, warehouses and on the road.
Our commitments
- Assess the risks of each operation before it starts and put controls in place.
- Give staff and subcontractors the protective equipment, training and supervision they need.
- Give everyone the authority to stop a job they believe is unsafe, without penalty.
- Work to prevent pollution, in line with MARPOL principles, and use only licensed waste, sludge and slop contractors.
- Report and investigate every incident and near miss, and share what we learn.
- Comply with Bangladeshi health, safety and environmental law and port authority rules.
Responsibilities
- Management is accountable for HSE performance and resources.
- Supervisors make sure risk controls are in place before work begins.
- Every person on our jobs looks after their own safety and that of others.
Review
This policy is reviewed at least once a year by management, and whenever operations, regulations or risks change.
